Review: What I think of the shower tent
25 July 2024In the previous article, I told you about my interest in portable shower when traveling. And today I am completing this famous post by telling you about a complementary accessory, the shower tent.
Because showering outside with a portable shower is one thing, having a little privacy is another. So let’s see together what it is, what it’s for, how to use it, and of course which ones I recommend as usual!
Explanations & Presentation
The shower tent is, as its name suggests, a tent in which you can shower or go to the toilet. It presents itself as a classic tent in terms of assembly, material and appearance, and simply has the particularity of being higher than it is wide, in order to be able to stand up in it.
How do we use it?
The shower tent is very easy to use. Some models (pop up) are instant assembly, simply throw on the ground and it unfolds and assembles in 30 seconds. For the others you will have to do it by hand, but rest assured, it’s just as simple. Just unfold it and put on the support bars and off you go, you’re done too.
How to choose yours?
To choose your shower tent you need to look at a few points. Before buying you must be sure that it meets the minimum, including the size (height width) which will ensure you a certain comfort when showering, the weight so that it is easy to transport, the assembly which must be quick ( I prefer the pop up models), the price which as always must be reasonable, and finally the material and the opacity.
Maintenance & Cleaning
It is important to clean your shower tent thoroughly before storing it. To do this after each use, unless you leave it on site and assembled, you must then empty any water that may be inside, dry it then store it, in its carrying bag if you have one, or directly in your tent, car, camper van etc.
Storage and Transport
These shower tents are generally suitable for camping and traveling as they are an accessory specially designed and used outdoors for the above-mentioned activities. They are therefore easily stored and transported easily. However, I recommend that if the one you choose does not have a storage bag, you buy one. If only to avoid getting water everywhere.
My opinion after testing
Honestly, I’m more of the shy type, and while I thought the idea of washing with a portable shower was great, I have to admit that I wasn’t necessarily a fan of the concept of showering outside with everyone looking at me. In fact, the tent is ideal for shelter! So I recommend it.
