The travel mosquito net to protect against mosquitoes
25 July 2024If there’s one thing that annoys me when I go on a trip, it’s mosquitoes! In Asia, but also in South America, in fact wherever there is high humidity and heat, there are mosquitoes. And as if the balls-breaking effect they provide wasn’t enough, they can transmit diseases. What a ponpon!
So, for me, I decided to take a mosquito net with me when traveling from now on. And I wanted to say a few words about it, as I have already done for other accessories, just to tell you a little more.
What is a travel mosquito net?
The mosquito net everyone knows a priori, it is a small net with very tight mesh, which therefore blocks mosquitoes. We hang it above our bed, in our tent, etc., and that way we have peace of mind when we sleep. The travel model is none other than a mosquito net that is a bit lighter, more compact, and therefore takes up less space in the backpack, etc.
Why travel with a mosquito net?
If you are traveling to France, you might need it too, but it turns out to be less useful and I wouldn’t put it in the essentials. On the other hand, as said above, in certain regions of the world, you clearly need it. If not for comfort, it is at least for health. Because mosquitoes are vectors of many diseases which are frankly scary. Malaria, dengue fever, zika, and so on, with a simple bite, it’s a big deal, so we might as well prevent it!
When and where to buy this accessory?
If you are going away for two weeks all-inclusive in a superb hotel, you might as well tell yourself that there is no point in buying a travel mosquito net. Apart from spending money and showing off, I don’t see any other use. If, on the other hand, you come to sleep in a campsite, bivouac, youth hostel, etc., this is essential. Regarding purchasing, you can find them in stores such as Intersport or Decathlon, but I recommend the internet, because there is more choice, better prices, etc. I’ll slip you below what’s best at the moment!
What types of mosquito nets exist?
There are several types of travel mosquito nets, starting with impregnated models and those which are not. The first are therefore soaked in an anti-mosquito solution, thus offering double protection. But they are more expensive of course. There are also differences in size, some being for solo travelers, while others are for large beds. There are also differences in shape, hooks, etc.
How to choose the best mosquito net for traveling?
To choose and especially buy the right one, you must take into account several points. As mentioned above, there are different models of travel mosquito nets. If you go alone, in a place with little infestation, then a classic tunnel-shaped mosquito net for 1 person will suffice. On the other hand, in places where mosquitoes are very present, prefer an impregnated mosquito net. You will have understood this, so you will have to look at the size (1, 2 people), the shape (tunnel, dome etc.), the attachments (suspension, hooks, clips etc.), the quality (small mesh, material used etc. ), the price (cheap, but effective) and of course the volume (not too large or bulky).
